Shopify SEO Services

A Shopify store gets found when its collections match what people search for and its product data is complete enough for Google and AI shopping tools to show. That is the work we do.

We start with an audit of your theme, apps, collections and product data, then fix what costs you the most sales first. You see the results in organic revenue, not just rankings.

What Holds Shopify Stores Back in Search

Shopify handles canonical tags, the sitemap, sort and filter URLs and hreflang on its own. These are the gaps it leaves, and the ones we find most often in Shopify audits.

Searches your store sells for but does not answer

Filtered views point back to the parent collection, so many searches by product type, feature or use have no page that can rank.

Apps that slow down every page

Apps add scripts to your theme, and their code often stays after you uninstall them.

Product results without ratings or shipping

Default themes leave out ratings and shipping details, so your listing looks plain next to competitors that show them.

Rankings lost when products change or retire

A renamed product handle or a deleted product with no redirect turns a page that ranked into a 404.

Crawling spent on tag and filter pages

On large catalogs, tag and filter pages stay open to crawling and take Google's visits from the pages that sell.

Product data AI shopping channels cannot use

Shopify Catalog lists your products in ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode from your product data alone, so any gap in that data carries into those answers.

A brand AI assistants leave out

AI answers lean on reviews and other sites, so a store with little coverage elsewhere can be missing.

Organic revenue nobody can trace to a page

Without ecommerce events checked through checkout, you cannot see which collection, product page or guide earned an order.

Our Shopify SEO Services

Every engagement starts with an audit. The work after it covers every part of a Shopify store that affects how it ranks and sells, from collections and theme speed to product data and reporting.

Shopify SEO Audit

A review of your theme code, installed apps, robots.txt.liquid, Search Console indexing, product markup and Shopify Catalog data, with a list of fixes ranked by the revenue each one can add.

01

Keyword Coverage Across the Buying Journey

Pages that answer the searches shoppers make before, during and after they buy.

  • Keyword research for every stage, with coverage measured by collection
  • Each search mapped to one page, in a collection you have or a new one
  • Pages already in positions 4 to 10 improved first
02

Collection Structure and Internal Links

Collections organized the way shoppers search, with links that lead Google to the pages that sell.

  • Rules for which filters become collections and which stay out of crawling
  • Breadcrumbs and links between related collections
  • Menus and theme links pointed at canonical URLs
03

Shopify Blog Content That Feeds Your Collections

Guides that answer pre-purchase questions and send readers to the right collection.

  • Topics chosen by search demand and by the collections that need support
  • Every post linked to its collections and products
  • Clicks and assisted revenue tracked for each post
04

Theme and App Speed

A faster theme that keeps only the apps your store needs.

  • App audit against real-user Core Web Vitals data
  • Leftover code from uninstalled apps removed
  • Changes tested on a duplicate theme before they go live
05

Product Details Google Can Show

Ratings, price, stock, shipping and returns shown right in the search results.

  • Ratings, price, availability and variants declared for every product
  • Barcode (GTIN) and brand filled in
  • Shipping and return policies set in Merchant Center
06

Redirects for Changed and Retired Products

Rankings and links kept when products change or leave the catalog.

  • Audit of 404 pages and the backlinks that point to them
  • Rules for out-of-stock, seasonal and discontinued products
  • A redirect check on every handle change
07

Crawl and Index Control

Google's crawling spent on the pages that can rank.

  • robots.txt.liquid rules, tested before release
  • Noindex for tag pages and thin pages
  • Indexing tracked in Search Console
08

Shopify Catalog and Product Feeds

Product data that Google and AI shopping channels can read.

  • Shopify Catalog mapping for titles, descriptions, categories and variants
  • Google & YouTube channel and Merchant Center errors fixed
  • Feed prices and stock kept in sync with the store
09

Authority From Reviews, Press and Links

Your brand mentioned where Google and AI assistants look, so your products show up in their answers.

  • Shopper questions tracked by category, comparison and use
  • Brand mentions and citations counted for each AI assistant
  • A plan for reviews, press and links from relevant sites, with no paid links
10

Tracking and Reporting Across the Store

Organic revenue measured on every page type, from blog guides to product pages.

  • GA4 ecommerce events checked on Shopify, through checkout to purchase
  • Organic sessions, orders and revenue by collection, product page and blog post
  • Visits and orders from AI assistants, reviewed monthly

SEO Priorities Set by Your Stock and Sales

Conative.ai is the AI platform CB/I Digital built for ecommerce brands. It connects your Shopify store, inventory and marketing data, and we use it to decide which collections and products your SEO work pushes first.

  • Stock

Low-stock alerts keep new pages and links on products you can ship, so search traffic does not land on sold-out items.

  • Sales by product

Net sales, conversion rate and stock for every product show which collections earn the most from each visit.

  • Demand

Forecasts show which products are about to rise, so their pages are ready before the season starts.

  • Placement

Recommendations show which products to feature first on each collection.

Shopify SEO for Your Kind of Store

The same audit covers every store. What comes first depends on how you sell and how big the catalog is.

DTC Brands

Collections deep enough to rank, size and fit help, gift guides, and reviews on the product pages shoppers compare.

Shopify Plus Stores

App reviews across a larger stack, a plan for frequent launches and new collections, and changes coordinated with your in-house developers.

Large Catalogs

Crawl and index rules for thousands of products, a clear filter policy, and product data checked at scale.

Shopify and Amazon Sellers

One product catalog planned for both channels, so your store pages and your Amazon listings each go after the searches they can win.

Your Shopify Growth Team

SEO is one of the channels we run for Shopify brands. Paid search, CRO, email and Amazon are planned by the same team, so every channel works from the same product data. Melinda Maria and Chan Luu grew again with several of these channels run together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Shopify do SEO automatically?

Partly. Shopify sets canonical tags, generates the sitemap, blocks sort and multi-filter URLs in robots.txt and adds hreflang for international markets. It does not write your collection and product copy, build pages for the searches shoppers make, clean up app code or complete your product markup. That is the work we take on.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes, for most DTC brands. Its defaults handle duplicate URLs and crawl basics well. Its limits, such as collections that cannot be nested, are manageable with collection planning, internal links and breadcrumbs.

Is Shopify SEO different from ecommerce SEO?

The principles are the same. On Shopify, part of the technical setup comes built in, and collections, apps and Shopify Catalog each work in ways specific to the platform, so the plan starts from what the platform already does.

What Shopify SEO problems are most common?

In our audits, the usual ones are collections that are only a product grid, too many apps loading on every page, products on Google with no stars or shipping details, and 404s left by renamed or deleted products.

How much do Shopify SEO services cost?

We scope pricing after the audit. It depends on catalog size and how many collections need work.

Why aren't my collection pages ranking when my products are?

Usually because the collection is only a product grid, with no introduction, few links from other pages, or several collections competing for the same search. Google then ranks a single product or a competitor category page instead.

Do Shopify SEO apps help or hurt rankings?

Some help, for example an app that adds correct product markup. Every app adds code, though, and two apps that both output product markup send Google conflicting data. We review each app before we suggest keeping or removing it.

Our store has thousands of filter URLs. Is that a problem?

Usually not. Shopify blocks multi-filter URLs and points single filters at the parent collection. On large catalogs or older themes it is still worth checking the Pages report in Search Console.

Do you work with Shopify Plus stores?

Yes. Shopify Plus adds checkout and B2B features and a much higher redirect limit, and we plan the SEO work around the apps and integrations your Plus store runs.

Can you work with our Shopify developer or theme partner?

Yes. Every fix comes with a clear brief your developer or theme partner can follow.

How do we know Shopify SEO is working?

Each monthly report shows organic orders and revenue for the pages we changed, movement on non-brand searches, and orders that started with an AI assistant.

Is Shopify SEO a one-time project or ongoing?

Both. The first phase covers the audit and the technical fixes, then a monthly program keeps collections, content and product data current as the catalog and searches change. Markup, redirect and crawl changes can show within weeks, while new collections for competitive searches usually take a few months.
