SJJCC's Story

The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (SJJCC) is the only full-service Jewish Community Center (JCC) on the North Shore of Long Island. It offers quality programs and services rooted in Jewish values, traditions, heritage and culture to enrich the lives of all individuals and families in the community.

A Slow WordPress Site and a Serious Hack

SJJCC's WordPress website was loading at a crawl, and SJJCC wanted to improve site performance as fast as possible. In addition, in early September 2014, Sjjcc.org suffered a serious attack that defaced the site, and the admin account had already been taken over several times before.

Speed Fixes, Malware Cleanup and a Parent Portal

CB/I Digital handled performance and security in parallel, then built new functionality for the center.

Rolled out a series of web performance optimizations that raised site speed from 39/100 to 76/100 in just 2 days
Traced the attack to a vulnerability in a slideshow plugin that allowed any file to be downloaded from the server, which the attacker used to take control of the site admin
Cleaned the site to remove all malicious files and strengthened its security
Developed a login module for parents and teachers called the ECC page, where teachers update class schedules and photos and parents log in to see their children's latest class activities

A Faster, Secure Site in 2 Days

The performance and security work earned the client's trust, and CB/I Digital went on to develop the ECC module.
